step 2 and 3 are not neccessary. also last step should like that
std::transform(attrFileName.begin(), attrFileName.end(), attrFileName.begin(), tolower);

i dont know why you replaced boost with std but they are unneccessary also.

from c++17 boost is useless. Why should the external folder take up +130-200mb?

i mean replacing boost with std is not related with c++ version. you're right c++ standart supersedes boost.
